In a pioneering step for the Yemeni community in Belgium, the Yemeni Forum in Belgiumorganized a special women’s event in celebration of Women’s Day, generously sponsored by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) ,under the theme:
“A strong woman builds a happy family and turns exile into a homeland.”
The event was held on Saturday, November 8, in the city of Antwerp, and witnessed an impressive turnout of over 40 Yemeni families who enjoyed an atmosphere filled with interaction, positivity, and high engagement.
Interactive Workshop Addressing Challenges Faced by Yemeni Women Abroad
The event opened with a welcoming speech by Ms. Tehani Al-Ammari , Secretary-General of the Yemeni Forum in Belgium, who led an interactive workshop exploring key topics directly related to the lives of Yemeni women in the diaspora.
The workshop focused on three main themes:
- The challenges women face while living abroad and how to overcome them
- The role of women in building a happy and stable family
- The idea that strong women and strong families form the foundation of a strong community
The discussions reflected a high level of awareness and understanding among the participants regarding the difficulties and opportunities that migrant women encounter.
Inspiring Stories and Models of Success
The program also featured a special segment highlighting inspiring real-life stories, most notably the experience shared by Dr. Inas Najjad, who spoke about her personal and professional journey abroad—marked by success, perseverance, and resilience.
Her story served as a source of motivation for Yemeni women striving for empowerment, achievement, and positive contribution to their families and communities.
A Joyful Atmosphere and a Memorable Closing
The event included entertainment activities, musical moments, and a light refreshments corner, creating a warm and joyful family environment.
To conclude, symbolic gifts were distributed to the participants in appreciation of their engagement and presence.
